like two little girls…
Posted on August 17, 2008
Can’t forget to share more photos from one of my favorite newborn sessions. It was a great session all on its own, but it was an extra special session because it was for friends.
Mom is a long-time friend from Disney. She is one of those people that you can’t help but love and enjoy. I have no idea if she realizes how beautiful she is… She is a stunning girl, just so dang pretty, but incredibly down to earth. She is sweet and thoughtful and smart… We, her Disney friends, all love her to pieces.
Being a mom absolutely suits her. I have known this would be the case for as long as I’ve known her. But watching her that day with her new little one was a joy. She has done well with the transition into mommy-hood.
These are my favorite type of photos to take in the home… Here they were just on the bed, hanging out, enjoying each other.
This is one of their favorites:
And yes, she was absolutely as good as she appears to be in these photos. She was awake for most of the time. Took little naps after feedings and then would wake up for us and pose. I was also there for a much longer time than normal. It was nice because we got to have a nice visit while doing the photos. Every time my friend’s husband came in to check on us, we had the baby set up differently or positioned in something (a basket, on a stuffed animal, etc.) And he would sort of laugh at us. But we were having fun! It wasn’t until later when I was proofing these, AND listening to my daughter playing dolls in her room with her friend, that the thought suddenly struck me that it was as if my friend and I were little girls playing with a doll that day! But it was because she was being so good that we were able to “play” like that.
Thank you my friends for asking me to take the first official photos of your new baby girl. It was such an honor and I had a great time! I will look forward to watching this precious little one grow. I wish you the best always.
scheduling updates and a wedding
Posted on August 13, 2008
So this is what I did last week:
Yep, my first official wedding. I can’t say that I really want to go down the path of weddings quite yet, but I’ll admit it was a bit fun. Stressful. Tiring. But a fun challenge.
And I SO enjoy the bride and groom which made the whole experience more meaningful to me.
Aren’t you just dying to see these two in focus? They are GORGEOUS.
Haven’t even begun to proof these yet. Just trying to get caught up with orders and scheduling for the holiday season. Also have to give a shout out here to my good friend Paige for helping me out on the day of the wedding. I have had several people ask how the wedding went and when I tell them how helpful Paige was to me, the first thing that comes to mind is how she truly kept me grounded. I don’t know what I would have done without her there. She kept me moving along in a very calm, “don’t freak out” way. I’m so grateful.
Print Orders:
If you are waiting for an order or waiting to hear back from me regarding your order or storyboards, etc., I’m working on all of the above. That’s what I’ll be doing for the rest of the week. You should hear back from me very soon. If you don’t hear back from me by Friday, please email me. I’m trying so hard to keep up with all the emails…
Holiday Scheduling:
I also just sent out an email to all my clients regarding holiday scheduling. I have very few regular session openings left for the remainder of the year, but I do have quite a few openings available for my holiday mini-sessions in October and November. If you are thinking about booking with me for the holiday season and would like more information please send me an email.
Well, better get back to work! Have a great rest of the week!

new baby girl
Posted on August 11, 2008
Yes, I have had lots of newborn sessions lately. They have all been a joy and an honor. This baby girl was no exception. It was an extra special session for me as well… She is the baby of my sister’s best friend’s brother. Although we have always been just aquaintances because of our sisters’ friendship, I feel like I have known him forever. It was such an honor to be asked to take photos for he and his wife, this being their first child. What a little miracle!
Its amazing what you find when you walk around your subject…
His other adorable sister (oh, did I not mention how adorable the first mentioned sister is?) made this precious little tutu for her. I was so excited to see it and after inspecting it closely, I realized that it was a no-sew tu-tu… Wow, I think even “I” could make one!
Isn’t she precious in this? And how nice to be in the middle of summer where we can take a newborn outdoors.
Yes, she slept almost the entire session. I was there quite a while too. She woke up for a brief moment when she was hungry and then went right back to sleep.
Thanks to the Oldham family for asking me to take photos when this little one arrived. I had been looking forward to it and I hope you will enjoy the results for many years to come!
maternity/newborn – round two!

Round two for these folks, I mean.
A photo from the maternity session:
And then some from the newborn session a little over a month later:
This little guy was one of the first newborns that I photographed. At almost two years old, he wasn’t too much into having photos taken, EXCEPT in the very beginning. He literally climbed up on my stool and posed for me while we waited for baby brother to be ready. Got a couple nice smiling shots too, but I just love his expression here.
And finally, the new kid on the block – I am so in love with this shot.
Hope this doesn’t look scary to anyone. This cat is known to get in on the action when I’m there. Although I’ll admit, this was a tad bit set up this time.

Thanks my friends for asking me back again. It was a pleasure and an honor. I loved meeting your new little guy. It took me back to the first time I met his big brother. Looking at the photos closely, I could see resemblances between the two, but it was fun noticing the differences as well. Especially the brown hair! What a blessing these little guys are. Congratulations!

What I get to see through and around my lens blesses me more than you know.
I was so looking forward to this session… Not only did it go as well as I hoped it would, but it was such a joy to meet this family. I felt honored to do these photos for them; honored to be the one to capture their first offical family photos.
This little girl is now “their” little girl, newly adopted. I don’t know the whole story – I don’t know how long they waited for this moment or how hard the road was to get here. I do know that they have been blessed by the Lord with the gift of this precious little girl. I do know that the love they have for her, though new, is so strong and evident. I do know that this little life has been given a wonderful home. They are all fortunate. They are all blessed.
You can bet she lights up their world with a smile like this:
Congratulations once again and thank you for sharing your joy with me.
Sneak Peek… Blessed

This couple has been blessed with this beautiful baby girl. They have a special story, but I promised myself that I would keep this short for the time being and will come back to post more next time.
To the parents of this little beauty, I hope this gives you good indication of what’s to come in your gallery. These are of course a few of my favorites, but I am holding out on you.
We did great that day and I can’t wait to share the rest!
