backtracking thru 2008 – part3

Another sweet family from November… All I remember was running from place to place because that’s what you do with two year olds. They are quite the little explorers at two!
And then every once in awhile they stand still… Gotta be quick!
At the time it felt like we weren’t getting a whole lot in the way of family shots and I was thrilled to find we had so many great shots like this one ~
We grabbed a quick moment for just mom and dad also. Just a quick moment, mind you.
I have a thing for babies on the hip. Wish I had more of this very image with each of my own kids. I think its because I have old photos of my mom holding my sister and I on the hip, standing out in front of where we lived or in front of Grandma’s house. I just adore it.
We went out early enough and just missed all the smoke that swept over our area from the fires that were raging not far from us. We had no idea what was happening, but by the time I got home the sky was practically grey with smoke. You would never know it in these photos where the sun was shining beautifully for us. Thanks so much guys for a great day out in the park!

backtracking thru 2008 – part2

Another 2008 session I never shared… Taken on a dreary day in November at the beach, but still, the photos came out beautifully.
Mom and Dad… Don’t they look great?
Watching these two with their grandchildren was truly a joy. So much love…
I really had a great time working with this family and just feel blessed at the opportunity to meet such a nice group of people. Mom and dad are about to renew their wedding vows. I can’t rememeber if its 20 or 25 years, but in either case, what a blessing and something to be proud of. Congratulations!

backtracking thru 2008 – part1

I feel so bad when I don’t get around to sharing client photos. 2008 ended in this whirlwind of “busy”. I once again over-scheduled myself which was very frustrating because I set out with the intention of learning from the previous year and not doing just that. But despite that I took on too much, I loved working with every one of my client families and feel so blessed by the interaction and friendship that came from it.
I shared a bit from all three of the following sessions, but here are a few more from each…
The “W” Family
(Here is the link to the first post from their session.)
I’d love a shot like this of my kids ~
My favorite part of their session was capturing some sweet husband/wife shots. Can’t explain it, but it was super sweet and just made my day.
The “T” Family
(Here is the link to the first post from their session.)
I met this family back in March for a newborn session and I love that I get to see these little guys grow, especially during their first year.
I had the pleasure of meeting Grandpa and Grandma, Great-Grandma and of course his aunt and uncle shown in the last post~
Great-Grandma was just about to celebrate her 80th birthday and how wonderful (and lucky) that we could capture such a nice photo of her.
Lucky because had we waited one more day, well, let’s just say she had a bit of a fall and her nose wouldn’t have looked quite the same… Ouch! We had a conversation on the phone several weeks later and she described her accident. It was a terrible accident to have had happen to an older person, but more in an embarrassing sort of way. One of those stories where you just can’t help but laugh. And we DID laugh about it together on the phone. She had such a good sense of humor about it. Poor thing. I know, I’m keeping you in suspense, but I don’t really think it would be right for me to give you the details and I’ll just leave it at that!
And Anita’s Family
(Here is the link to the first post from their session.)
I seem to always crash the party when I work with this family, and this day was no exception because I got to stay for lunch! I hope they know that I’m not a moocher. I planned on picking up something on my way to the next session, but I couldn’t pass up the invitation to sit and have lunch before I left. I truly enjoy spending time with them. They make me feel like one of the family and I’m so thankful for their friendship.
We tried so hard to get these kids to cooperate for “storytime” and it was chaos, but fun too. We did get a couple good shots and this one is just too funny for me to pass up.
I love how this storyboard came out for Grandma~
Check this sweet thing out as a three month old here.
I’ll be back in a couple days to share more 2008 photos! Thanks for stopping by!

first session of the year
Posted on January 23, 2009
Happy New Year! Yeah, I know I’m a little late. Or A LOT late. But that’s just how life is for me right now. For my grand re-entrance I planned on backtracking to the end of 2008 since I have quite a few sessions that were never shared… But as I work hard on finishing up my proofing from the first sessions of this year, these photos stopped me dead in my tracks and I HAD to share this little guy with you.
Let me start by saying that these are my favorite kind of photos to take… Using the home environment, going outside too, and capturing a brand new one year old in a very real way, with his loving parents that just so obviously (and rightly so) adore him… It’s not hard to see why I love what I do. This is the stuff of life that I love capturing for people.

Holding on to poor mama’s hair, in perfect one year old style.
As I was proofing I had a vision of this little boy’s future wife being shown these photos one day (I know mom, I know) and just absolutely melting at how adorable he was as a little boy.
I had a hard time converting to b/w because of his blue blue eyes (kudos to mom for choosing the blue shirt), but its amazing how b/w changes things. In color this photo draws you right into his eyes and his perfect little face.
In b/w it also draws you into the moment.
I had a GREAT time with this family. Was so happy to meet new people, make new friends, and capture their adorable little boy at the wonderful age of one. Blessings to you and thanks for welcoming me into your home!
